Summary
- Alaska Airlines now allows passengers to book British Airways flights to London on its website for added convenience.
- Mileage Plan members can earn 100% of miles flown on British Airways flights booked through Alaska’s site.
- The airline is also anticipating a busy summer season with one million additional seats added to accommodate high demand.
Alaska Airlines has enjoyed a partnership with British Airways for several years and has taken that relationship a step further. Guests can now buy British Airways tickets for nonstop flights to London on the Alaska Airlines website – a move that will likely have many takers, given the popularity of London as a destination from the United States.

Airlines are increasingly looking for ways to consolidate partnerships with other carriers to offer more convenient options for passengers. Alaska Airlines’ decision to let travelers book nonstop British Airways flights to London on its official website is one example.

The airline has announced that passengers can now buy BA flights on its website between London Heathrow and Alaska’s gateway airports in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego, as well as Chicago and New York JFK for a seamless travel experience.
Looking at the extensive British Airways network in the US, passengers will get plenty of options to choose from. Per Alaska Airlines, guests can book the following British Airways London Heathrow flights on its website:
- Seattle (two daily flights)
- Portland (daily flight)
- San Francisco (two daily flights)
- Los Angeles (three daily flights)
- San Diego (two daily flights)
- Chicago (three daily flights)
- New York JFK (eight daily flights)
These flights can be booked for flights beginning June 18 and beyond, and later this year, passengers can also purchase Alaska flights connecting to British Airways, as well as flights beyond London on British Airways. BA’s Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, Neil Chernoff, commented,
“We are extending our partnership with our fellow oneworld member Alaska Airlines to offer travelers seamless access to British Airways flights to London directly at alaskaair.com. It will enhance the travel experience for our customers, providing convenient connections between London Heathrow and Alaska’s key gateway airports. We look forward to connecting even more travelers between the Pacific Northwest and the UK capital.”
Mileage Plan benefits
Alaska Airlines has been mindful of retaining the benefits for its Mileage Plan members. The carrier has specified that while booking a British Airways flight directly at alaskaair.com, members can earn 100% of the miles they fly – one mile for every mile flown. For someone flying long overseas roundtrips, that translates to thousands of Mileage Plan miles earned.
Booking made on the Alaska website using the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card will earn passengers triple miles, including on overseas flights with partners such as British Airways.

Busy summer months
Like most US carriers, Alaska Airlines, too, is anticipating a huge summer season and has added around one million seats to meet demand. The extra capacity will be deployed throughout Alaska’s network, including international flights, and some on routes it has never previously flown.

The airline flew more than half a million passengers over the Memorial Day weekend and anticipates another busy period around Independence Day, expecting to carry close to 160,000 daily passengers.
