Private jet cabins feature some of the most comfortable and luxurious interiors, including furniture, fixtures, and systems. The Gulfstream G280 is no exception when it comes to offering a quiet and comfortable cabin that boasts luxury seats and impeccable light and air systems. This article explores salient features of the Gulfstream G280 cabin.

Cabin space
A spacious feeling in the cabin
- Finished Cabin Height: 6 ft 1 in
- Finished Cabin Width: 6 ft 11 in
- Cabin Length (excluding baggage): 25 ft 10 in
The G280 cabin features a height of 6 ft 1 inch and a width of 6 ft 11 inches, enabling a comfortable space for passengers. While anything above six feet in height is sufficient for most people to stand straight, the cabin retains the dropped aisle concept from the G200. The dropped aisle offers additional headroom for taller people when walking down the aisle. That also means that seats are a bit stepped, but those fit perfectly attached to the inner fuselage.

Due to the dropped aisle design, the aircraft feels more spacious, particularly with the given cabin width. Gulfstream claims that the seats are laid closer to the windows, allowing for a more spacious feel while standing up. Notably, the larger G450 and G550 cabins are only two inches wider in width than the G280. As such, the G280 customers get a better value for the buck.

Choice of cabin configurations
The cabin can be configured for 8, 9, or 10 passengers
- Double club forward seat
- Four seats on the left
- A three-seat divan or two seats in a single-club configuration
- Optional lavatory seat for takeoff and landing
The Gulfstream G280 offers customized interior options, including seat configurations, interior colors, and fixtures. The new cabin configuration offers two layouts, each for ten passengers, without the use of the lavatory seat. Customers can choose to have single-club or double-club seating and can opt for a three-seat divan in the aft section.

Notably, only two outboard seats of the divan are available for use during takeoff and landing. The cabin is wide enough to accommodate a two-seater on one side and a single seat on the other. The cabin can accommodate up to five people in a sleep configuration. The eight- and nine-seat configured cabins can sleep four people.

Cabin light and air
The cabin features lots of natural light
- 19 cabin windows
- Larger than on Gulfstream G200
- Two windows in the lavatory
- Fresh air system
- Eliminates bacteria and viruses
The Gulfstream G280 cabin features 19 large windows for natural light. It is a significant upgrade from the G200, which features much smaller cabin windows. Moreover, the windows are oriented in such a way as to allow more natural light in the cabin.

The cabin uses a modern, clean air system, enabling 100% fresh air at all times. The air circulation system frequently pulls fresh air from the outside and circulates it in the cabin, reducing the impact of viruses and bacteria. The cabin pressurization allows for reduced fatigue and stress levels, particularly on long flights.
According to Gulfstream,
“Arrive refreshed thanks to 100% fresh air, natural light from 19 large oval windows and the lowest cabin altitude in the class.”

Galley and closet space
The master panel controls the Cabin Management System (CMS)
- Temperature, lighting, and entertainment controls
- A forward HD monitor
- Dual Blu-ray/DVD players
- Gulfstream’s CabinView moving-map flight information system.
- Optional systems include a 19-inch HD monitor on the rear bulkhead, 12-inch plug-in monitors on the seats, XM satellite radio, and Gogo Business Aviation air-to-ground and/or SwiftBroadband connectivity systems.
The Gulfstream G280 features a spacious galley space just across from the main door. The standard convection oven can be replaced with a microwave oven. The galley offers all standard and added options, including cold storage, a coffee maker, an ice drawer, a waste container, a solid-surface countertop, and more.
The master panel within the galley controls the Gulfstream cabin management system (CMS). Next to the main door, there is a spacious storage space, approximately 14 cubic feet, that can be used for personal items, small equipment, or coat hangers.

Aft baggage compartment
Baggage compartment volume: 120 cubic feet
- Total interior length: 32 ft 3 in
- Baggage compartment length: 6 ft 5 in
- Cabin volume: 935 cubic ft
- Maximum cruise altitude: 45,000 ft
- Weight capacity: 1,980 lbs (898 kg)
One of the design goals of the Gulfstream G280 was to provide an accessible aft baggage compartment in the cabin. Unlike some other Gulfstream jets, the G280 features a spacious baggage hold area in the aft of the cabin. Along with standard-sized luggage, the space also allows for oversized equipment, including sports equipment.

One of the drawbacks of the aft baggage compartment is that the in-flight accessibility is only allowed under 40,000 ft. AINOnline highlights that the limitation simplifies the certification process where minimal safety steps are required to acquire certification. While that saved time for Gulfstream before service entry, the company is now looking into removing the limit with the FAA and EASA, allowing further flexibility for passengers.
