JAKARTA, June 16 (Xinhua) — Indonesia’s state-owned airline, Garuda Indonesia Group, deployed 14 additional flights during the Eid al-Adha holiday season to accommodate the increased travels.
According to the Group on Sunday, four of the 14 flights are run by the airline’s flagship, Garuda Indonesia, while the other 10 are run by its low-cost carrier Citilink.
The group anticipated that a total of 335,819 passengers would travel during the holiday period from June 13 to June 18, marking an 8 percent increase from previous figures.
On Friday, June 14, the peak of the holiday rush, the group recorded 73,434 passengers, with 38,393 flying with Citilink.
“This figure will keep fluctuating dynamically to reflect ongoing passenger movements, particularly on popular routes to Denpasar, Lombok, and Medan,” said Irfan Setiaputra, president director of Garuda Indonesia. ■
