Krabi International Airport is attracting interest from international carriers for the upcoming winter schedule, which runs from October 27, 2024, to March 29, 2025. The development follows the 154th IATA Slot Conference held in Bogota, Colombia, where the Department of Airports’ delegation engaged in discussions with various airlines seeking to secure or adjust flight slots at the Thai airport.
During the conference, representatives from nine airlines met with Thailand’s airport officials to discuss the potential for increasing flights to Krabi, highlighting the airport’s growing appeal as a travel destination. The discussions also covered the operational capacities and developmental prospects of Krabi International Airport, ensuring it can handle the anticipated increase in flight operations.
Flydubai, Scoot Tigerair, LOT Polish Airlines, TUI Fly, and Jetstar Asia Airways are among those looking to establish or enhance routes connecting cities such as Dubai, Singapore, Warsaw, and Stockholm with Krabi. Domestic airlines such as Thai AirAsia and Bangkok Airways are also adjusting their schedules to include routes from Chiang Mai to Krabi, with a stopover in Bangkok for the latter.
Apart from scheduled flights, several carriers are interested in operating charter flights during winter, adding to the potential influx of tourists to the region. Notable among these is TUI Fly, which plans to operate numerous charter flights connecting Scandinavian capitals with Krabi. (NNT)
