The countdown is on for Australia’s independent domestic and regional airline, Rex, to launch its first flights from Melbourne and Adelaide to Perth, the capital of West Australia situated on the edge of the Indian Ocean. Next week, the airline will operate its inaugural nonstop transcontinental jet services from the East Coast to the Far West, bringing together its domestic network, which now spans the country.

More options at the right time

With most of southern Australia shivering in the cold and school holidays fast approaching, the new routes come at just the right time for a holiday in the warmer climes of Perth. To celebrate the inaugural flights, Rex has a 48-hour sale offering customers a special one-way fare of AU$99 ($66) for travel between June 28 and August 31, 2024.

Apart from its pristine beaches and world-class surf breaks, Perth offers a vibrant outdoor dining scene, picturesque vineyards, quirky Quokkas and more to brush away the winter cold. Rex Chairman John Sharp said that due to cost of living pressures, many families are choosing to holiday domestically instead of heading overseas and Perth is a great staycation alternative.

“This is a fantastic sale fare for families and other holidaymakers looking to beat the winter blues, and importantly, Rex has ensured it captures the school holiday period. We know families are looking for hassle-free holidays closer to home and Rex has new flights to Perth from Melbourne and Adelaide at a great price point.”
