EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – A public meeting is being held tomorrow to present proposals from carriers interested in providing airline services to the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport.

According to information shared in a Facebook post by the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport (EAU), Sun Country Airlines and SkyWest Airlines submitted proposals that would allow one of them to provide service to the Chippewa Valley. Sun Country Airlines currently services EAU, but that contract ends on November 30.

The airport’s air service consultant will give a presentation at the Airport Commission’s regular June meeting on the two proposals. That meeting is at 7:30 a.m. on June 26 in the terminal conference room.

Before making a decision on which carrier will serve the community, the United States Department of Transportation requested a letter of community support from the Chippewa Valley Airport Commission.

Sun Country Airlines proposed to serve the community until September 30, 2028, with at least three flights per week to Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP) using Boeing 737 aircraft and non-stop service to rotating seasonal destinations of Fort Myers, Fla., Orlando, Fla., and Las Vegas, Nev.

The MSP service would allow EAU passengers to make connections to other flights in the Sun Country network of destination airports. The seasonal service would operate during periods of peak demand.

SkyWest Airlines, operating as United Express, proposed 12 non-stop roundtrip flights per week to O’Hare International Airport (ORD) using CRJ-200 regional jet aircraft. These flights would be timed to connect to United Airlines network of operations.

SkyWest proposes to serve the community for three years.
