New service to Belize City
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) will see a nonstop flight to Belize City operated by United Airlines starting December 21. The airport celebrated the announcement made by the Belize Tourism Board about the seasonal flight.
United’s website shows that the once-weekly flight will operate every Saturday using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Flight UA 2851 will depart SFO at 00:30 in the morning and reach Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) at 07:54. The block time for this service is 5 hrs and 24 mins.
The return flight UA 2850 will leave Belize City at 10:15 and reach San Francisco at 14:24, with a total block time of 6 hrs and 9 mins. SFO’s Airport Director Ivar C. Satero, commented,
“We are excited to welcome nonstop United Airlines flights from SFO to Belize. For Bay Area travelers seeking a warm-weather getaway this winter, United’s new service will be a welcome addition to their wide range of destinations from SFO. We thank United for their commitment to SFO and are confident this new service will be a success.”
United’s other flights to Belize City
United Airlines already operates a bunch of flights to Belize City. Per Cirium, it has 70 flights scheduled to BZE from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in July, of which eight are on the Boeing 737 MAX 8 equipment and the rest on 737-800.

It also has four monthly flights from Denver, Newark, and Los Angeles on the 737 MAX 8 and MAX 9 aircraft, which are part of the carrier’s larger weekend flight network. In July, United will have 288 international routes, amounting to an average of nine weekly flights. Of these, 27 international airport pairs will see just one flight from UA on a Saturday or Sunday, as detailed in the article below.

These routes operate on Saturday or Sunday only.
Belize City is also well-connected to the United States through other airlines. American Airlines flies to the city from Charlotte, Miami, Dallas, and Los Angeles, while Delta flies to the destination from Atlanta. Last year, JetBlue also started a service to BZE from New York JFK, while Southwest Airlines also connects the city with Baltimore, Denver, and Houston. Per Cirium, there are more than 580 return flights between Belize City and the US in July.
Other United Airlines news
The latest Belize City flight is not the only change to United’s winter schedule. The carrier will also increase its offering on the Chicago-Fort Lauderdale route by deploying its Boeing 777-200s on one daily flight.

The airline also recently took delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in two months following the audit by the Federal Aviation Administration, which paused deliveries of the aircraft. Given that the 737 MAX series of planes are increasingly featured on the airline’s network, the latest aircraft will also be put to good use.
