Jay-Z, born Shawn Corey Carter, is one of the world’s most famous musicians. The famous rapper was born on December 4, 1969, in New York City, New York. He was raised in the Marcy Houses, a public housing project in Brooklyn. In his early years, Jay-Z fell in love with music, specifically rapping, and he began his musical career in the 1980s under the guidance of another Brooklyn-based rapper, Jaz-O.
In 1994, Jay-Z founded Roc-A-Fella Records, which he then used to release his first two albums, Reasonable Doubt and In My Lifetime, Vol. 1. Both of these albums were hugely popular and skyrocketed Jay-Z to fame. He released projects in the 2000s, which led him to hold the record for the most number-one albums of any solo artist on the Billboard 200 record chart with 14 number-one albums. The rapper has also released several collaboration albums with famous artists such as Linkin Park and his wife Beyoncé.

Beyonce and Jay Z are the proud owners of a Bombardier Global 7500.
Beyond his activity in the music industry, Jay-Z founded several other ventures. After founding Roc-A-Fella Records in the 1990s, he also founded a clothing company called Rocawear, and a luxury bar chain called the 40/40 Club. Each of these skyrocketed into multi-million dollar businesses. Jay-Z continued exploring other ventures while still making millions releasing music. This led to him becoming the world’s first hip-hop billionaire in 2019. Currently, he has a net worth of over $2.5 billion.

Jay-Z’s constant involvement in many business ventures requires him to travel for business and other obligations around the world. Because of this, Jay-Z may not have the time to constantly fly on commercial airlines. To save time, Jay-Z, his wife, and his team operate a private jet. This business jet is used to shuttle him and his executives, close friends, and family across the world. Currently, Jay-Z flies a Bombardier Global 7500, which is an ultra-long-range business jet. Let’s take a closer look at the specific aircraft the Jay-Z flies, as well as what makes the Global 7500 such a popular choice in the ultra-long-range business jet market.
Jay-Z’s plane
The Bombardier Global 7500 that Jay-Z flies was manufactured in 2023. This aircraft, which is registered as N44440, has MAV 4 LLC listed as the official Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) registered owner, although Jay-Z and BeyoncĂ© are listed as the operators of the aircraft, per JetSpy. MAV 4 LCC is registered in New York City, New York. This company was also listed as the registered owner of Jay-Z’s previous aircraft.

This is an active aircraft, due to the number of operators and frequency of travel required. In 2024 so far, according to JetSpy, N44440 has flown a total of 61 flights. This has accumulated nearly 150 total hours of flight time. This also adds to nearly 75,000 gallons of aviation fuel, which amounts to over 710 metric tons of carbon emissions, per JetSpy. The aircraft’s three most visited airports in 2024, according to JetSpy, are:
- Van Nuys Airport (VNY) in Los Angeles, California
- Camarillo Airport (CMS) in Camarillo, California
- Teterboro Airport (TEB) in Bergen County, New Jersey
About the Bombardier Global 7500
Although Jay-Z’s Global 7500 was first delivered in 2023, Bombardier has been producing the Global 7500, which is its flagship aircraft, since 2016. However, the aircraft was first introduced in October 2010, with Bombardier conceptualizing the aircraft in the late 2000s. Bombardier initially based the design on the popular Global 6000, but the company wanted to make significant upgrades.

The aircraft was introduced in 2010, but the certification process was lengthy and took longer than originally intended. This was mostly due to Bombardier deciding to redesign a new transonic wing. Other developmental delays further lengthened the certification process. However, the first prototype aircraft conducted its maiden flight in November 2016. Nearly 2,500 flight test hours would be accumulated over the next two years. However, Transport Canada awarded its type certificate in September 2018. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) followed up by awarding its type certificate in November 2018. Deliveries of the aircraft began in December of that year. Since its introduction, over 175 Global 7500s have been produced.
Design features of the Global 7500
As previously mentioned, the Global 7500 is a larger version of the Global 6000 series. The Global 7500 has a larger fuselage and a redesigned wing, which helps the aircraft achieve one of the furthest ranges in the ultra-long-range business jet industry. The larger fuselage fits a bigger cabin that allows for 19 total passengers. The cabin has the following measurements:
- Cabin length: 54 feet five inches
- Cabin width: eight feet
- Cabin height: six feet two inches
This cabin is more than eleven feet longer than the Global 6000 series, which allows for four interior zones. This is the largest cabin in its class, and is even bigger than the recently certified Gulfstream G700.

The Global 7500 is powered by two General Electric Passport turbofan engines. It provides the aircraft with over 18,000 pounds of takeoff thrust. These powerful engines help the aircraft reach the following performance specifications:
