The cuisine of Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, along with top chefs from those countries will be in the spotlight at the Hilton this weekend, at the first edition of Caribbean Airlines’ culinary event, “Flavour and Flora”.
A release from the airline notes the culinary extravaganza takes place at the Trinidad Hilton poolside from 6:00 pm to midnight, on Saturday, July 13.
According to CEO of Caribbean Airlines, Garvin Medera:
“This event is much more than about food; it’s a celebration of our Caribbean identity and the flavours that unite us. Every dish tells a story, and every bite embodies the spirit of our region. We believe ‘Flavour and Flora’ encapsulates our passion and commitment for celebrating diversity, cultural richness and the talent within the Caribbean.”
Gourmet meals inspired by regional flavours and cuisine will be prepared by top Caribbean chefs: Chef Marvin Applewhaite from Barbados; Chef Belinda Bishop from Grenada; Chef Dustin Dalgetty from Guyana; Executive Chef Volae Williams from Jamaica. The team of top chefs from Trinidad and Tobago includes Executive Chefs Khalid Mohammed, Dominique Beens, and Moses Ruben, as well as Chefs Bernard Long, Christopher Ackbarali, Sharaz Mohammed, Isabel Brash and Darius E Campbell.
“Attendees will have the opportunity to indulge in an array of Caribbean dishes, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and rum cocktails from the tasting menu,” the airline said in its release. “Adding to the evening’s festivities, patrons will be treated to an unplugged performance by international soca star Machel Montano, songbird Leandra Head, and other talented entertainers.”
Caribbean Airlines says its ‘Flavour and Flora’ initiative is another element of the airline’s Caribbean Culture agenda which started with Culture in the Park for the Trinidad Carnival, followed by the regional T10 Caribbean Village Cricket Tournament that saw talented teams from across the region vying for the coveted title.
