Wizz Air will transfer its aircraft based at the Debrecen International Airport to Budapest on October 27 to “consolidate its operations” at Liszt Ferenc International Airport.

The low-cost airline will continue to operate flights from the eastern Hungarian city to Burgas, Larnaca, London and Rome during the summer season.

The company has offered employees jobs elsewhere in Hungary and outside the country, and passengers who may be affected will be notified shortly.

The operator of the Debrecen airport regrets the decision and said all flights will continue to operate without disruption in the meantime.

Traffic at Debrecen International Airport is expected to rise by 10% this year after passing the 300,000 mark in 2023 for the first time since the pandemic.
