Airlines usually witness a dip in business following the busy summer travel rush, and JetBlue’s latest offer is likely to help attract more passengers in the fall months. The airline’s head of marketing and customer support, Jayne O’Brien, told Travel + Leisure,
“To give our customers a soaring start on fall travel planning, we’re offering even greater savings this year as part of our fall sale. Those traveling on JetBlue this fall will delight in free carry-on bags for all fares starting September 6, new routes to beloved destinations across the Caribbean and Latin America and, as always, award-winning service delivered by the best crewmembers.”

Change in carry-on bag policy
Recently, JetBlue also introduced changes to its carry-on bag policy that will come into effect in September. Currently, those opting for the carrier’s lowest fare, Basic Blue, cannot take a carry-on bag onboard.
However, that is set to change from September 6, when Basic Blue passengers can take one carry-on bag in addition to their personal items inside the plane. JetBlue’s strategy aligns with most major US carriers, such as American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, which also let passengers with basic fares board with a carry-on piece.

Marty St. George, who recently returned to JetBlue as president, said that the carrier wants to be a winner among passengers, with the airline always looking for ways to evolve its offering in response to customer preferences.

Other JetBlue developments
JetBlue is one of seven airlines being considered by authorities for additional flights out of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). It is seeking approval from the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to operate a second daily nonstop flight between DCA and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The carrier already operates the route once daily and wants to double down on it with a second flight.

JetBlue is also making changes to its fleet structure and operations. Recently, it was noticed that the carrier will remove Embraer E190 flights from its New York JFK schedule from April next year as part of its plans to phase out its Embraer E190 fleet.
