Summary
- American Airlines’ Flagship Lounges offer luxury amenities for first and business class travelers.
- Access can be obtained through class of service tickets or elite status tiers.
- Purchasing a single visit pass is an option for those not meeting other qualifying criteria.
Given how busy and congested airports can get, premium lounge access is a priceless privilege for many travelers. It gives you a chance to relax in a luxurious space and escape the hustle and bustle of the airport, especially when you have to be there a couple of hours before your flight.
If you frequently travel through American Airlines’ hub, you might have come across its premium Flagship Lounges. These are rarer than the Admirals Club lounges, which can be found at several airports. As the name suggests, the Flagship Lounges are reserved for business class, first class, and the most elite travelers. Here’s how you can access them.
Flying in business or first class
American’s Flagship Lounge offers the best amenities and services compared to the airline’s other lounges. Visitors can enjoy chef-inspired meals, a premium wine table, personalized service, expansive seating, a specialty cocktail bar, shower suites, and other premium services. The lounges can be found in the following locations:
- Chicago O’Hare: Terminal 3 Concourse H/K
- Dallas Fort Worth: Terminal D between gates D21 and D22
- Los Angeles International: Terminal 4 near gate 40
- Miami International: Concourse D near gate D30

Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) might be the next location to get an American Airlines Flagship Lounge. The easiest way to access the lounge is by purchasing a qualifying same-day flight ticket marketed by American or a oneworld airline or marketed by Aer Lingus and operated by American. On domestic routes, the following tickets (ticketed as Flagship) afford you access:
- Dallas (DFW) to Honolulu (HNL)
- Dallas (DFW) to Kona (KOA)
- Dallas (DFW) to Maui (OGG)
- Chicago (ORD) to Honolulu (HNL)
- Charlotte (CLT) to Honolulu (HNL)
On domestic flights, qualifying customers cannot bring any guests. If you’re traveling internationally, you can access the lounge if you’re traveling in Flagship business to Asia, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, or South America (excluding Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela). Additionally, oneworld business and first class ticket holders can access the lounge, but also with no guests.

American Airlines also offers a first-class dining experience inside its Flagship Lounges in Dallas, Los Angeles, and Miami. Access is for passengers flying on American in Flagship First or Business Plus on select international and transcontinental flights. On international Flagship First routes, travelers can bring one guest. However, no guests are allowed on transcontinental Flagship First or Business Plus.

AAdvantage, Mileage Plan, and oneworld elites
If you aren’t looking to shell out thousands of dollars each time to access the Flagship Lounge, some elite status tiers will also get you in. If you’re an American Airlines AAdvantage member, you must have Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro, or Platinum status to access the lounge. If you are part of Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan, you must have MVP Gold 75K or MVP Gold status.

You’ll be granted access if you are on a flight ticketed as Flagship between the US and Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, New Zealand, and South America, excluding the same countries mentioned above. You can bring one guest, with children over 2 counting as guests.
Members of the unpublished ConciergeKey tier can enjoy the Flagship Lounge before flying on any American or oneworld flight or a flight marketed by Aer Lingus and operated by American Airlines. ConciergeKey guests can bring any immediate family or up to two guests.

This status tier is invite-only.
Access to the Flagship Lounge is even easier for oneworld elites. If you qualify for oneworld Emerald or Sapphire status, you can get access when departing, arriving, or connecting to any same-day flight on American or any oneworld airline, regardless of the cabin you are traveling in. You can also bring a guest.
There are different ways to achieve oneworld elite status if you are a member of one of the individual loyalty programs. Considering the many quicker paths to Sapphire, such as British Airways Silver, this might be a consideration for some who look at lounges more favorably than trying to get an upgrade.
Getting a single visit pass
Finally, you can purchase a single visit pass to access the lounge when traveling on an American Airlines or a oneworld flight, regardless of cabin. Your flight must be departing or arriving on the same day or before 6 am the following morning. With a pass, you can visit any Flagship Lounge location, but access is subject to space availability.

The single-visit pass can be purchased for $150 or 15,000 AAdvantage miles per person from any open Flagship lounge location. It is valid for one day and does not allow you to bring guests. Travelers must be at least 21 years old to purchase one. You will be required to present your boarding pass and may also be asked for ID.
The Flagship Lounge offers a calmer environment than the terminal or the easier-to-access Admirals Club. While American is more generous with entry than United, it is nice to have a premium-only lounge to compete with United Polaris.
