Biometric security provider CLEAR was announced in April as one of three TSA PreCheck enrollment providers. Passengers can conveniently use kiosks at airport security areas to enroll or renew their TSA PreCheck memberships.
Where is new this summer?
After launching with just three locations in April, the program has rapidly expanded to CLEAR locations nationwide. This month, the company revealed the latest batch of locations to enroll and renew consumers in the Trusted Traveler program. With these additions, the security company now offers TSA PreCheck services at 40 of the 58 airports nationwide where it maintains a presence.
The growth is part of the ongoing expansion of CLEAR’s national TSA PreCheck enrollment footprint, with CLEAR indicating that it will continue delivering convenience to travelers by launching additional locations and extended hours of operation for enrollment and renewals over the year. Since Simple Flying last reported on the initiative in June, the following airports have been added to the network:
- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
- San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
- Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP)
- Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport

The TSA PreCheck program allows travelers to conveniently keep shoes, belts, and light jackets on through the security checkpoint and electronics and 3-1-1 compliant liquids in carry-on bags. Once approved, members can add the Known Traveller Number to their bookings, which is then reflected on their boarding passes. According to the TSA, 99% of PreCheck members wait less than 10 minutes at airport checkpoints nationwide. In a statement, CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker noted the benefits this brings travelers from these new locations:
“TSA PreCheck with enrollment by CLEAR provides a fast and efficient airport experience.
“This is a win-win for U.S. travelers who will have access to more enrollment locations, expanded hours and other benefits.”

In addition to CLEAR, passengers can sign up for the TSA PreCheck program with IDEMIA and TELOS, which maintain separate enrollment centers.
Happiness in Honolulu
The news follows the announcement that CLEAR has opened the priority security lanes for which it is traditionally known at a second airport in Hawaii. CLEAR launched its security screening lane in April at Maui’s Kahului Airport (OGG) alongside a partnership with Hawaiian Airlines. Passengers with a CLEAR Plus membership can use the company’s dedicated lanes to seamlessly and securely verify their identity with their eyes or fingerprint instead of presenting a driver’s license or passport. Upon verification, a CLEAR Ambassador escorts members through the dedicated lane and directly to TSA physical security, saving them time waiting in line at the security checkpoint.

What Is The Difference Between TSA Precheck and CLEAR?
Both programs aim to minimize security screening delays at US airports.
This week, Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) joins Maui in offering a dedicated lane for time-sensitive travelers. The expansion is set to directly impact the local economy, with the estimated creation of approximately 100 jobs and an annual local economic impact of about $6 million across the two locations combined. Ed Sniffen, Director of the Hawaii Department of Transportation, expressed his excitement at the program’s expansion in the state:
“We are pleased to offer frequent travelers at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport another option to make security screening faster and more convenient.
“The addition of CLEAR at Kahului Airport earlier this year has been well received by travelers departing from Maui, and now travelers at HNL will also have the opportunity to utilize this service.”

Thanks to its partnership with Hawaiian Airlines, CLEAR provides members of the airline’s frequent flyer program, HawaiianMiles, with discounted CLEAR Plus memberships. In addition to HawaiianMiles members, enrollment discounts are also available for Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and American Express members.
