Americas: Flight disruptions affecting multiple airlines regionwide as of early July 19 due to IT issues /update 1

Flight disruptions, including delays and cancellations, are ongoing for American (AA), United (UA), Delta (DA), Frontier (F9), and Allegiant (G4) airlines at airports across the Americas due to a communication issue prompted by a Microsoft service outage as of early July 19. Frontier Airlines first reported software malfunctions booking and check-in systems late the previous day, leading the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to issue a ground-stop order for Frontier. The FAA has since ordered ground stop orders for Allegiant, American, Delta, and United airlines. It is unclear when regular flight operations would resume.

Flight disruptions are probable across the Americas in the coming hours. Similar disruptions are possible with other carriers. Residual flight disruptions are likely once normal services resume as airlines work to clear passenger backlogs.
