Avianca, in other news – new routes
The airline has recently announced the commencement of ticket sales for a brand new nonstop route, scheduled to launch on October 27. This new route will provide an impressive capacity of over 2,500 weekly seats. It is worth noting that this marks a significant post-COVID restart for avianca, following its previous operation of the route linking Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG) with Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) from 2018 to 2019.
After a five-year hiatus, this pivotal route is set to recommence operations in October, featuring seven weekly flights. The revival of this route is poised to enhance connectivity across the Americas, delivering seamless travel options to Chicago for passengers hailing from South America, Central America, and the Caribbean via Bogota. This development will undoubtedly facilitate improved access and convenience for travelers within the region.

Why the deal can be good?
With a growing network in the Americas, the Columbian carrier is quickly going from underdog to rising star—a fitting analogy for one of the oldest airlines in the Star Alliance network.
Looking at potential routes, people can buy using these newly acquired miles; we can see customers fly to Washington on avianca, then Honolulu on United, and to finish off, they can fly on the ANA A380.
Alternatively, they can fly to JFK using Avianca and then connect to the world’s longest flight with Singapore Airlines to the city-state. Simply put, this new deal can be a true boost for South American frequent fliers, especially when booking exotic holidays abroad.
