- Aeroplan points can now be earned on eligible Eurowings flights, contributing to Elite Status.
- Aeroplan points can also be redeemed for Eurowings flights within Europe, starting at 7,500 points.
Canadian flag carrier Air Canada has announced its latest airline partner. The Star Alliance carrier is already known for the number of airlines it allows its Aeroplan frequent flyer program members to redeem their points on, with the newest addition being Lufthansa Group subsidiary Eurowings.
How do you earn Aeroplan points for flights on Eurowings?
The low-cost airline is based in Düsseldorf, Germany, and is wholly owned by the Lufthansa Group. While Lufthansa is a Star Alliance member as a carrier, all of its subsidiaries are not members by default, so this presents a new opportunity for Aeroplan members to earn and spend miles on a new European carrier. Eurowings primarily serves domestic and European destinations from its main hubs, Düsseldorf and Hamburg.
Eurowings is separate from the similarly named Eurowings Discover (now Discover Airlines), which has had an agreement with Air Canada since 2021.

The company currently services over 100 destinations in more than 50 countries.
Aeroplan members can now earn Aeroplan points on all eligible Eurowings flights, Status Qualifying Miles, and a Status Qualifying Segment that count towards Aeroplan Elite Status. Eurowings flights ticketed by Air Canada also earn Status Qualifying Dollars.
Aeroplan Members who do not hold Elite Status will earn points based on the actual distance flown and the booking class purchased. The process works slightly differently for those with status, as points are earned based on actual miles flown multiplied by the associated booking class accumulation percentage or the minimum points rule.
For distances flown up to 249 miles, Aeroplan Elite Status Members earn a minimum of 250 Aeroplan points and Status Qualifying Miles multiplied by the % of miles flown as indicated for eligible booking classes. For example, a booking class that earns 100% of miles flown will earn 250 points, whereas a booking class that earns 50% of miles flown will earn 125 points.
Aeroplan points will be credited to the traveler’s Aeroplan account, regardless of who pays for the ticket. Aeroplan Members who registered for the Aeroplan program before the flight can request credit up to eleven months from the flight date.
How to redeem Aeroplan points for flights on Eurowings
Aeroplan Points can also be redeemed on flights across the Eurowings network, which overlaps with several of Air Canada’s European destinations. Redemptions for flights vary based on the distance traveled. However, Eurowings flights generally are contained within Europe (besides some sun destinations such as Egypt), so they fall within the Atlantic redemption chart.
