Not content to sit on its laurels as New England’s leading carrier, JetBlue announced it is adding 20% more seats this winter to offer more connections for customers seeking a warmer break in premium holiday destinations, such as California, Florida, and the Caribbean.

More choices for the region

JetBlue is the leading airline in New England, operating the most mainline services and the most nonstop destinations of any carrier out of Boston. It also offers the most flights from Boston and New England to California, Florida, and the Caribbean. The network expansion announced on Wednesday will provide more flexibility and convenience to customers visiting sought-after vacation hot spots.

There will be more flying from Boston and other regional airports, and JetBlue will launch services for the first time from Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) in New Hampshire. MHT will be JetBlue’s tenth airport in New England, adding to the recently announced service from Presque Isle, Maine, which starts in September.

Flights from Manchester-Boston commence in January 2025 with year-round daily services to Orlando (MCO) and winter services to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), the only nonstop flight schedule on this route, and Fort Myers (RSW). JetBlue President Marty St. George said the airline is incredibly proud of its strong roots in Boston and New England, adding:

“Our commitment to Boston and our loyal customers across New England is unwavering as we continue to innovate and enhance our product. With each new development, each new route, we aim to deliver even greater comfort and convenience, ensuring that our customers’ choice is easy, and they always receive the best that JetBlue has to offer.”

Many of the additional seats will be on JetBlue’s new-generation Airbus A220s, which have already replaced more than half of the fleet’s Embraer E190 aircraft. The airline has more than 30 A220s in service, and travelers out of Boston Logan International have the best chance of enjoying the extra comfort, quieter cabin and amenities such as in-seat power, larger overhead bins and bigger windows on the new jets.

According to Planespotters.net, JetBlue has a fleet of 286 aircraft dominated by single-aisle Airbus jets. The data lists the fleet as 34 Airbus A220-300s, 130 A320-200s, 63 A321-200s and 36 A321neos, as well as 23 Embraer E190 regional jets. Overall, the fleet has an average age of 12 years, somewhat skewed by the E190s, with an average age of 15.

Lots of flights to the sun

The new schedules will see additional flights to a host of destinations from Boston Logan (BOS), including Barbados, Cancun, Grand Cayman, Miami, Montego Bay, Nassau, Punta Carna, St. Lucia, Aruba, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Jacksonville, Sarasota and many more. There will also be a second daily nonstop between Boston and Phoenix, while services from Providence will nearly triple, and Hartford will increase by around 30% this winter.

Did you know that one of JetBlue’s Airbus A320s is painted red? The livery is a tribute to New York’s firefighters.

In New York, JetBlue is adding services in Buffalo, Albany and Syracuse, including the October launch of the only nonstop from Buffalo Niagara International (BUF) to Palm Beach International (PBI) on a seasonal basis. Buffalo and Albany customers will also have more choices, with a second daily flight added this winter to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, while Syracuse will have a second daily service to Orlando.

In October, JetBlue will launch flights from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP), making it easier for Long Island residents to get their own dose of winter fun in the sun. From ISP, the airline will offer daily flights to Orlando and four-times-weekly flights to Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

By February, JetBlue will operate around 225 daily flights (on average) from Florida, which is 8% more than during the same period last year. To celebrate the Manchester launch and the new service from Buffalo to West Palm Beach, JetBlue is offering special $49 one-way fares for those new routes, which are only available at jetblue.com for a limited time.
