Summary

- Customers can get statement credits and priority boarding with the Venture cards.
- Avelo has plans to launch its own loyalty program.
Avelo Airlines
is a low-cost carrier based in Houston, Texas. Like many airlines these days, it offers credit card benefits for its customers. It operates an unusual credit card scheme. Rather than having a full co-branded card with a card provider, it works in partnership with Capital One. Avelo flyers who take out the Capital One Venture or VentureOne card receive specific airline benefits in addition to the standard benefits that come with the credit card.
This is a great opportunity for travelers to get a bit more when flying Avelo. The airline only launched in 2021 and does not yet have its own loyalty program. Such a partnership using an existing and popular card offering makes sense in this case.
Avelo and Capital One
Capital One has offered the Venture and VentureOne credit cards for some time. These are popular and rewarding travel-focused credit cards, but they are not specifically tied to any airline. Instead, they award Capital One Miles that can be used for awards directly, or transferred into a number of airline or hotel loyalty programs.
The partnership between Avelo and Capital One was launched in 2022. This does not rebrand the Capital One card in any way, but in a unique move, Avelo offers specific benefits to those who apply for the card. These are offered in addition to the regular bonuses and benefits of the Venture and VentureOne cards.
Speaking at the time of the program launch in 2022, Avelo Airlines Head of Marketing, Travis Christ, explained how it worked well for the airline’s target offering and customers. He said:
“Avelo is bringing a new kind of air travel to communities across America and we’re proud to offer a new kind of credit card partnership to our Customers. Combining Avelo’s industry-leading affordability, convenience and reliability with the unique travel benefits and perks of the Capital One Venture and VentureOne cards rewards our Customers for spending and traveling on their terms. Our partnership with Capital One is the latest way we are inspiring travel.”

Card benefits when flying Avelo Airlines
There are specific additional benefits for new card applicants who apply for the Venture or VentureOne credit card through Avelo. Miles will continue to be earned in the Capital One Miles scheme (especially as Avelo has no points or miles scheme of its own), but cardholders will receive a statement credit for Avelo purchases and priority boarding benefits.
- The VentureOne card is a free card with no annual fee.
- The Venture card is a more premium card with an annual fee of $95. As such, it generally offers more benefits.

In particular, the additional benefits of the free VentureOne card are:
- $100 in statement credits on Avelo flight purchases
- Priority boarding on Avelo flights for one year
And the additional benefits of the paid Venture card are:
- $200 in statement credits on Avelo flight purchases
- Priority boarding on Avelo flights for one year
Card benefits with Capital One
Applicants, of course, receive all the standard benefits of the Capital One cards.

- Earn five miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.
- Earn 1.25 miles per dollar on all other purchases.
- 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months;

Capital One VentureOne Rewards Card
The Capital One VentureOne Rewards card is Capital One’s entry-level travel card. The bank has a unique partnership with Avelo Airlines to give cardholders a statement credit and priority boarding.
And for the paid Venture card, these include:
- 75,000 bonus miles when you spend $4,000 on purchases within three months of account opening.
- Earn five miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.
- Earn two miles per dollar on all other purchases.

Capital One Venture Rewards Card
The Capital One Venture card offers priority boarding with Avelo Airlines, a $100 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck, and mileage-earning opportunities for a reasonable annual fee.
Avelo and loyalty
In the near future, it is likely that Avelo will have its own loyalty program. In late 2022, the airline confirmed that it planned to introduce a new loyalty program in 2023. This would follow on from the introduction of a new booking system.

Speaking at the time, Andrew Levy, CEO and President of Avelo Airlines, explained how it will be a transactional points-based system, focussing more on rewarding travel than offering frequent flyer perks.
He said:
“It’ll be a points-based program. It will not be a frequent flyer program. But I’ve been doing something that I think customers will find has great value and great utility.”

Avelo Plans To Introduce A Loyalty Program In 2023
Avelo has made a great start getting its brand out there; the next natural step is to embrace the benefits of loyalty.
This loyalty program introduction has not yet happened, but there is no indication that it is still not planned. When it starts, perhaps the airline will also take the chance to change its credit card offering. We will have to wait and see.
