Delta Air Lines operates a fleet of over 70 Airbus A220s, ranging from the 109-seater A220-100 to the 130-seater A220-300. Having become the first US operator of the A220 back in February 2019, Delta is currently the world’s largest A220 operator.
According to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium, the carrier will operate over 6,350 flights with its A220s in September. Route lengths vary from its shortest – a 185-mile hop between LaGuardia (LGA) and Boston (BOS) – to some over 2,000 miles.
Washington Dulles-Seattle
2,306 miles, up to two daily A220 flights
Delta Air Lines
longest A220 route for September will be its coast-to-coast service between Washington Dulles International (IAD) and Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA). Its higher capacity A220-300s are deployed on this route, offering 12 business class and 118 economy seats, with ideal morning and evening timings.

The airline operates a double-daily service on all days except Saturday, which has a single morning service. The flight has a block time of five hours – interestingly, it is still less than half the length of Delta’s longest domestic flight, a 5,095-mile seasonal nonstop from Boston to Honolulu.
Atlanta-Santa Barbara
2,022 miles, daily A220 service
Delta operates a daily A220 flight between its Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL) hub and Santa Barbara (SBA), giving its passengers direct access to Santa Barbara without needing to fly into Los Angeles (LAX), located around 90 miles south.
Delta only recently began flying the A220 out of its Atlanta base this summer, with Santa Barbara and nearby Burbank being among its first routes.
Atlanta-Burbank
1,941 miles, daily A220 flight
Hollywood Burbank (BUR) is only around 85 miles away from Santa Barbara but offers far more extensive connections with around a dozen carriers. Delta resumed this route the same day it launched its new service to Santa Barbara in June.

It suspended service in 2020 during the pandemic and would take four years to relaunch, becoming one of two Delta connections at Burbank alongside Salt Lake City International (SLC).
Seattle-Austin
1,770 miles, up to three daily A220 flights
The highest capacity route on this list at over 19,000 monthly seats is Delta’s service between Seattle and Austin-Bergstom International (AUS), running up to three times a day. Clocking in at just over four hours, Delta competes with Alaska Airlines on this route, with the latter operating up to four daily departures.

Earlier this year, the airline used one of its A220s to operate a special total eclipse viewing flight from Austin-Bergstom.
Seattle-Dallas/Fort Worth
1,660 miles, double-daily with A220
Another Texas destination makes the list – the airline utilizes a mix of its A220-100 and -300 fleet and offers convenient morning and evening timings for its double-daily service.
