Singapore Airlines
The only Asian carrier on the list
Singapore Airlines
(SQ) is offering close to 5,000 US-bound flights on its Airbus A350s. The
world’s longest flight
is conducted by SQ on its Airbus A350s, too, as its Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-haul) flies between Singapore and the US. The carrier operates a daily flight from Singapore to both
New York John F. Kennedy International Airport
(JFK) and
Newark Liberty International Airport
(EWR).

Some of the longest flights that SQ operates to the US using its Airbus A350s include the following:
-
Singapore Changi Airport
(SIN) to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on a 8,440-mile journey on its A350-900ULR.
-
SIN to
Los Angeles International Airport
(LAX) on an 8,758-mile journey. SQ also operates daily flights from SIN to LAX via Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) with the Boeing 777-300ER.
- SIN to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) on an 8,068-mile journey.

Virgin Atlantic
The carrier offering the lowest ASMs on this list
Virgin Atlantic
(VS) is offering 300 more seats than SQ in 2024 on US-bound flights operated by Airbus A350s. Despite this small difference in the number of flights, the UK-based carrier is offering 7,70,008 seats more than SQ. According to ch-aviation, the twelve Virgin Airbus A350-1000s operated by VS have an average age of 3.8 years.

Virgin has two different configurations of its A350-1000. Let’s take a look at them:
- Booth Model: A high-density version configured with 16 first-class seats, 56 premium economy class seats, and 325 economy class seats (C16W56Y325).
- Loft Model: Configured with 44 first-class seats, 56 premium economy class seats, and 235 economy class seats (C44W56Y235).
The high-density version of the A350s operated by VS allows the carrier to have comparably more seats on its A350s compared to SQ. In the month of June alone, the
carrier had 26,465 seats on its Airbus A350s
from
London Heathrow Airport
(LHR) to JFK. The number of flights on this on the 3,452-mile route
dropped to 26,130 in September
.

Qatar recently added caviar to its business-class operations
(on its A350s and other aircraft) to six destinations in the US. On the occasion, Xia Cai, the Senior Vice President Product Development and Design of Qatar Airways commented:
“The introduction of caviar service, commonly available only in first class cabins, further elevates Qatar Airways’ award-winning business class experience. We are committed to continuously enhance our onboard services to elevate the industry’s standards and delight our passengers.”
Some of the
longest US-bound flights operated by QR using its A350s
include:

Air France
The carrier operating more than twenty A350s
If you combine the number of US-bound Airbus A350s flights operated by
Air France
(AF) and those operated by Singapore Airlines, it would be almost equal to the number of US-bound A350 flights operated by the carrier with the highest number on this list. On these flights, Air France is offering just shy of ten billion ASMs.

In July last year,
AF received its 21st Airbus A350
. It
was reported
that:
“In September 2023, Air France-KLM made a second order for more A350-900s after the successful launch and utilization of the current fleet. The primary order is for 50 examples, with options for 40 more. The order will make the group the largest operator of the type. Details are still hidden, but the order contains a mix of -900 and -1000 variants. We know the group expects Airbus to deliver the first aircraft from this order in 2026 and complete the order by 2030.”
Some destinations in the US where AF operates its Airbus A350s include the following:
- Atlanta (ATL): 4,384 miles (7,056 km)

According to the analysis by Paul Hartley for Simple Flying, the
airline will increase its fleet of the A350
:
” Delta currently has over 30 of the A350-900 variants in its fleet, which are used to fly its longest international routes. When the first examples arrive in 2026, this will become the airline’s new flagship.”

- An 8,433-mile journey between Atlanta (ATL) and Johannesburg (JNB).
- A 7,487-mile journey between Los Angeles (LAX) and Sydney (SYD).
