This jet established Honda’s presence in the light business jet market, featuring enhanced performance and fuel efficiency while boasting a spacious cabin for up to five passengers.

The HA-420 has a maximum cruise speed of 422 knots (782 km/h) and a range of 1,222 nautical miles (2,265 km), perfect for short- to medium-haul flights. This makes the jet a suitable option for business travelers seeking point-to-point travel between cities, as well as general aviation operators offering recreational flights.

Discerning buyers opt for the HondaJet for a myriad of reasons. Firstly, its innovative design featuring a composite fuselage translates into greater fuel efficiency, better performance, and increased cabin space (20% more space than its competitors, according to Volato).

“First, the cabin has 20 percent more space than the competition. With over seven feet of space between the four club seats, you can really stretch out as you travel between destinations. Each plush executive seat is fully adjustable to maximize your comfort.”

“Between each set of club seats, you’ll find a large, fold-out table suitable for work or pleasure. Not sitting down for an in-flight meal? The table retracts into a compact cocktail sidebar or completely folds away.”

Furthermore, its signature over-the-wing engine mount reduces noise, offers a more spacious cabin for up to five passengers, and increases fuel efficiency. The sleek and modern interior, featuring advanced avionics and customizable options, ensures both style and functionality. Additionally, the HondaJet’s reputation for reliability and ease of operation contributes to its allure among business and private jet enthusiasts alike.

Beyond its technical merits, the HondaJet reflects a commitment to detail, offering a spacious, ergonomic cabin that maximizes travel comfort. With a keen eye for esthetics and a focus on efficiency, the HondaJet continues to capture the interest of those seeking a seamless blend of performance, sophistication, and cutting-edge engineering in their private aviation experience.

In 2006, the Honda Aircraft Company announced the commercialization of the HA-420, with the first delivery planned for 2010. The price at the time was set at $3.65 million. By the time the first aircraft was delivered, it had been five years since the scheduled year. Liberty Jet states that the price of the HondaJet HA-420 ranges between $3.275 million and $3.795 million.

According to the SherpaReport, a preowned HA-420 started at around $2.5 million in 2023. However, Volato stated that the price had fallen to $2 million as of the start of the year. However, it’s worth noting that the cost of a new HondaJet can vary depending on several factors, including the model configuration, optional add-ons, and any customizations the buyer might choose.

In addition, the aviation market is dynamic, and prices can fluctuate based on economic conditions, inflation, and changes in manufacturing costs. Potential buyers should also be prepared to fork out a substantial sum in operating costs, which could be upwards of $1 million a year.
