Manchester Airport has issued a warning to passengers as several airlines are set to move from Terminals 1 and 3 to the revamped Terminal 2. The airport has released a list of the affected airlines along with their respective dates of transition. At this point, 11 airlines including Jet2 are included in the shift.

Following a massive £1.3bn transformation programme set to be completed by 2025, Terminal 2, which is expected to more than double in size, will cater to approximately 70% of all airport passengers. The old Terminal 1 will then be shut down. As part of this programme, some airlines will find their ‘new homes’ in Terminal 2.

Airlines such as Austrian, Lufthansa and Swiss are scheduled to move to Terminal 2 on Sunday, October 27. TAP Air Portugal will make the switch on October 30, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Other airlines including Biman Bangladesh (November 5); Jet2 (November 6) and Iberia Express and Vueling (both November 7) have also announced their move dates. EgyptAir and SunExpress flights will transition to Terminal 2 on November 12, followed by Royal Jordanian the next day.

The airport has also advised passengers with car parking or lounge bookings to contact them for necessary changes. All fast-track bookings for Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 will be valid in Terminal 2.

Earlier this year in June, the airport celebrated a significant milestone in the Terminal 2 transformation programme with the installation of a large, two-storey link bridge. This bridge will connect the existing terminal building to a new pier currently under construction, providing additional aircraft gates, stands and seating.

Meanwhile, a revamped airfield will notably boost the number of aircraft that can operate on it. The new T2 will also feature 27 new shops, bars and restaurants, including a high-street style shopping area, a champagne bar and a food hall.
