On September 12, a Boeing 767 cargo plane of the Polish airline SkyTaxi made its first technical landing at Turkmenabat International Airport. This event was the result of cooperation with the JSC “Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan” (TULM), which organized this stop on the route from China to Europe.
According to the TULM website, local services, including aviation fuel, were used during the technical landing. In the future, it is planned to carry out daily technical landings through the Turkmenabat International Airport, which can significantly increase the transit potential of the country.
TULM OJSC, established in 2018 by decree of the President of Turkmenistan, aims to develop the country’s transport and logistics system and increase the volume of transit cargo. Cooperation with SkyTaxi is an important step in achieving these goals.
Founded in 2000, SkyTaxi has grown from a small company operating light aircraft to an operator of large Boeing 767 freighters. The company has extensive experience in operating cargo flights worldwide and is a major player in the European air cargo market.
This first technical landing opens up new prospects for the development of air traffic between Europe and Asia via Turkmenistan, which could help strengthen the country’s position as an important transit hub on international air routes.
