Canadian travelers now have two nonstop flight options to Mexico’s Guadalajara, both operated by ultra-low-cost carrier Flair Airlines. The airline was already the sole carrier operating nonstop flights between Canada and Guadalajara and has now commenced services from Toronto to complement its existing flights from Vancouver.

Double the options for cheap flights

On September 13, 2024, Flair Airlines (Flair) flight F82660 departed Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) at 13:23 and, after a flight of 4:23 hours, arrived in Mexico at Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) at 15:46. The nonstop route was flown with a 2019 Boeing 737 MAX 8, registration C-FFEL and MSN 64942 that departed GUD at 17:42 and landed at Toronto Pearson International at 23:52.

The new service will operate from Toronto Pearson up to three times weekly in fall/winter 2024 and spring 2025. Flair’s other nonstop route to Guadalaja is scheduled to depart Vancouver International Airport (YVR) three times weekly at 13:40 and arrive at GUD at 19:50. The return flight will leave at 20:35 and land in Vancouver at 00:55 the following day.

Last year, Guadalajara welcomed nearly 500,000 Canadian visitors, and with Vancouver a success, the addition of the Toronto flights will likely grow that number significantly. Flair Airlines Interim CEO and President Maciej Wilk said the flights to Guadalajara have been a “huge success,” and the airline is really excited to see the same enthusiasm and demand from Toronto.

“Guadalajara is one of the most vibrant and important cities in Mexico, and as Flair deepens our roots in Mexico, we are expanding our routes, too. We’re proud to be the only airline in Canada that flies nonstop to this incredible city.”

With one-way fares from Toronto Pearson International starting as low as $148, the airline believes families, adventurers, and business people alike will enjoy the direct passage to Mexico’s second-most populous city. As a starting point, Flair wants to capture the unfilled demand of more than 26,000 passengers who flew indirectly to Guadalajara from Pearson International in 2023.

Benefits at both ends of the route

Not all the benefits are for north to south, with travelers from Guadalajara and its environs now able to quickly and seamlessly connect to Flair’s network of more than 35 destinations, including across Canada and the US. Flair also offers low fares to destinations in the Dominican Republic, Jamacia and Mexico.

Guadalajara’s Miguel Hidalgo International Airport is just 24 miles from the city, renowned as the birthplace of iconic Mexican heritage, such as tequila, mariachi and charrería, the Mexican national sport of rodeo. The airport is connected to 60 international and national destinations, and travelers can now benefit from infrastructure investments designed to lift the overall passenger experience.

As well as the flights to Guadalajara, Canadians looking to escape the winter cold can travel with Flair to the Mexican cities of Puerto Vallarta (PVR) and Cancun (CUN), Jamacia’s Norman Manley International (KIN) in Kingston, Punta Carna (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) in Florida.

Flair aims to make affordable travel possible in, to and from Canada. The addition of nonstop flights from Vancouver and Toronto to Guadalajara expands the possibilities for Canadian travelers. The airline’s full winter schedule is now available, and the low fares make it easier than ever for Canadians to explore their backyard and beyond.
