Germany’s Lufthansa Group announced that it is extending its wet lease agreement with airBaltic for three more years starting the summer of 2025.
According to the group, the partnership’s extension will enable the flexibility to deploy up to 21 additional Airbus A220-300 aircraft during summer 2025, and five more aircraft of this type in winter 2025 at various hubs.
The group said that due to customer demand, it is aligning its route networks based on seasonal peaks, particularly in the summer season.
“With the additional capacities of airBaltic, destinations in high demand in the route networks can be served even more flexibly in future,” the group said in a statement.
The Lufthansa Group added that the extension will also strengthen the quality of connections to its intercontinental services.
Under the wet lease agreement, the aircraft and crews will be provided by airBaltic.
The Lufthansa Group and airBaltic have been working together since 2019.
