Turkish Airlines and Veuve Clicquot emerged victorious at the 7-goal polo tournament held at the Nairobi Polo Club.
Turkish Airlines secured a commanding 7-3 victory over Lite Blue, thanks to an impressive performance by Mauricio Andre and Bobby Karia, both of whom played pivotal roles in their team’s success.
The fast-paced match saw Turkish Airlines take control early, maintaining their lead throughout despite a valiant effort from Lite Blue’s star player, Mbu Ngugi, who managed to score 2 goals for his team.
The tournament finale saw Veuve Clicquot beat Tusker Malt 6-5.
The match was a true spectacle of skill and resilience, with Alexander Watson and Julian Cattin leading the charge for Veuve Clicquot. Tusker Malt’s Dirk Van Reenen put on an incredible show, scoring 3 goals, but his efforts were not enough to overcome the precision and teamwork displayed by Veuve Clicquot. The final moments of the match were intense, with both teams pushing hard, but Veuve Clicquot held firm to clinch the title.
Speaking after the final, SBM Bank Kenya Head of Marketing and Communication Magdalene Mulandi lauded the players for their outstanding performances saying:
“This was polo at its very best – a fantastic advertisement for the sport with the determination and passion on display from both teams. As sponsors, we are proud to support the growth of polo in Kenya and are excited to see what the rest of the season holds.”
Following the conclusion of 7 goal tournament the focus now shifts to The Chukkers & Carols Tournament, which is set to take place in December.
