History of Lincoln Airport
After months of surveying, grading, seeding, construction, and inspections, the Lincoln Municipal Airport was completed in 1929. At the time of its construction, it was considered modern and compared favorably to the Denver airport. The port’s well-lit runways meant safer airmail connections, especially at night. Allowing pilots to communicate via telephone with officials on the ground.
