REWARDING CAREER
Have you considered a career as a Flight Attendant? It seems like an exciting and rewarding career. If you love to travel, you may get time to explore locations between flights. Some flight attendants also receive free in-flight meals and snacks, and many companies will reimburse them for outside food expenses. Your family might also be able to travel for free, and you can have a unique and flexible work schedule. Many get retirement benefits or saving plans and discounts on hotels, cruises, and rental vehicles.
One airline that has its second-largest hub is the St. Paul Minneapolis International Airport, is looking for Flight Attendants who won’t be offended by their new requirements for all attendants.
DELTA ‘MIGHT’ WANT YOU
Delta Airlines is looking for people who not only want to be a Flight Attendant, they want people who would be proud to represent Delta; with a new strict ‘appearance requirement’ that involves how you look during your interview, your training, and throughout your career with Delta Airlines.
NEW REQUIREMENTS FROM DELTA AIRLINES
The new requirements that are being rolled out can be quite specific, but if you like the code, you may appreciate it. Delta makes a good point; Flight Attendants are the face of the airlines and the customer experience begins the moment a Flight Attendant puts on their uniform.
CLOTHING
Delta Airlines requires you to:
WEAR UNDERWEAR: You must wear “proper undergarments, that are not visible.” (What they are saying is; that YOU MUST WEAR underwear, and they want to make sure that no one can see your underwear when you’re working.) Thank you, Delta. I don’t want to see people’s undies…ever.
- Clothing must be professional and fit properly
- Dresses and skirts need to be at or below the knee
- Shoes need to be closed-toe flats, heels, or sling-back
- No tennis shoes or athletic shoes will be permitted
- If you choose to wear the male uniform, you must where a tie
DURING YOUR INTERVIEW
It seems logical to me that you shouldn’t even have to tell people this but; profanity, chewing gum, and using phones or earbuds in the interview are not permitted.
So far, I don’t think many people will have a problem keeping up with the requirements for the job; but when it comes to their hair, face, and nails? Some people may not like the new requirements.
THE ‘NATURAL’ LOOK
Hair must have a ‘natural-looking’ color. (Basically, they are saying your cute pink and purple hair will have to go). Long hair that extends beyond the shoulder, must be pulled back and secured away from the eyes. Eyelashes ‘should appear natural’ and ‘all nails must be the same color.’ Can you handle it? No more black, orange, and white nails for Halloween, or red, white & blue for Independence Day.
TATTOOS
Do you have visible tattoos? This could be a deal breaker. Tattoos must be covered but bandages are not suitable for coverage of tattoos at any time.
PIERCINGS
Regarding nose piercings, only a single nose piercing is permitted and only gold, silver, white pearl or clear diamond-like studs will be allowed. Earrings? Only two per ear are allowed, and no hoops. Earrings must be no larger than a dime.
DELTA SAYS
Delta said, “We will work with you to accommodate a specific manner of dress or physical appearance in keeping with religious beliefs or practices unless it causes a safety hazard or other undue burden on the company.”
