On Wednesday, Alaska Airlines closed the purchase just a day after the federal government removed the last obstacle to the deal.

Alaska Airlines has said that Hawaiian Airlines will stay as a separate brand so they do not need to repaint the planes.

They also stated that they will assume approximately $900 million in Hawaiian debt.

The airlines agreed to maintain current levels of service on key routes within Hawaii and between the island state and the United States mainland.

On Wednesday, shares of Alaska Air Group fell a little over 1%.

The airlines have also agreed to consumer protections, which includes not lowering the value of frequent-flier rewards when they combine their loyalty programs and promising to compensate passengers for cancellations and significant delays that are the carriers’ fault.
