Early this morning, a Delta Air Lines flight was forced to divert due to a mechanical issue. Though there was an issue, there were no injuries to crew or passengers.

Uneventful diversion

Last night, a Delta Air Lines
Boeing 737-800 took off from Tampa International Airport
(TPA) and headed to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). During the flight, a pilot reported a mechanical issue, which led to a diversion. Shortly after midnight, the 737 landed at Bradley International Airport (BDL).

According to a report from WFSB, there were 109 passengers onboard and six crew members. After landing in Hartford, Delta worked on accommodating passengers to Boston. THe airline issued the following statement,

“Delta flight 1439 from Tampa (TPA) to Boston (BOS) diverted and landed safely in Hartford, Conn. (BDL) after the crew received an indication of a mechanical issue. Delta teams are working to get these customers to their final destinations today, and we apologize for the delay in their travel. The safety of Delta’s customers and employees remains our top priority.”

Recent Delta Air Lines news

Earlier today, Delta announced it was expanding its suspension of service from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Ben Gurion Airport. Flights will no longer resume in 2024, and the airline has issued a travel waiver for all who had travel booked to TLV by the end of the year. The airline said,

“Delta flights between New York-JFK and Tel Aviv will be paused through Dec. 31, due to ongoing conflict in the region. Customers impacted by the schedule change will receive notifications via the Fly Delta app and contact information listed in their reservation as these cancellations are processed in Delta’s system.”

The Atlanta-based carrier has expanded its sports partnerships across the pond. A few days ago, Delta announced it had become the official airline partner for a football club in the United Kingdom (UK), Birmingham City Football Club. Through the partnership, the airline’s logo will feature on the sleeves of the jerseys of both the men’s and women’s teams.

Additionally, Delta’s branding will be featured throughout the team’s facilities and its digital properties. With this new partnership, Delta becomes the second US airline to partner with a football club in the UK. Last year, United Airlines announced it was partnering with Wrexham FC, which is owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The partnership with Birmingham City is the second partnership the airline announced this summer. One month ago, Delta announced it had become the official airline of the WNBA. This builds on the already existing relationship the airline had with the WNBA for charter flights.

The airline and the WNBA signed a multi-year agreement through which Delta will transport all 12 teams throughout the year, both in the regular season and playoff games. In addition to providing transportation, Delta will leverage opportunities in media broadcasts, digital, print, and social media to tell travel-related stories.
