Many have asked how the merger between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines will affect Hawaiian’s service to American Samoa and mileage benefits for travelers from the territory.

Hawaiian Air spokesman Alex Da Silva said in response to KHJ News questions, “We will continue serving Pago Pago as a combined organization and don’t have any schedule changes to announce.”

Asked if there are any personnel changes for American Samoa, he said, “there are no changes to announce for our Pago Pago team.”

Da Silva explained that travelers mileage plans and Hawaiian Miles retain their full value.

Later this month, travelers will be able to transfer miles between Alaska Mileage Plan and Hawaiian Miles at a 1:1 ratio for no charge. For example, if you have miles in a HawaiianMiles account and you want to redeem for a flight on Alaska or an Alaska global partner, simply transfer the miles to your Mileage Plan account at no charge and book your award travel at alaskaair.com.

Da Silva added there are other benefits in the coming months.
