It has been a busy month for Alaska Airlines
. Having completed its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines and outlined how the two brands will operate, the carrier is now looking to boost its frequent flyer program with a generous new promotion.
How to get $25 off your next Alaska Airlines flight
The oneworld Alliance carrier’s latest giveaway is open to travelers signing up for a Mileage Plan
frequent flyer account for the first time. To receive the promotion, one must use the dedicated offer page on the Alaska Airlines website before December 31, 2024.
The page will sometimes redirect to a generic enrollment page if the website thinks you may have an existing membership. This can be resolved by opening a different browser, clearing your history, or opening an incognito window.
The money comes in the form of a discount code valid for $25 off a new ticket purchase on Alaska Airlines. The airline confirmed that the discount codes will be deposited into the new member account within 72 hours of enrollment.
The flights must be with Alaska Airlines, which includes services operated on behalf of Alaska Airlines by its Horizon Air
and SkyWest. The trip must be purchased directly on Alaska’s website within 28 days of Mileage Plan enrollment, but the travel can be for any time across the first 90 days of membership.

The offer is not valid for residents of the carrier’s titular state (Alaska) or frequent flyers in Hawaii or California. The discount can also not be used on flights to or from Deadhorse Airport (SCC). Also known as Prudhoe Bay, the airport is located in the far north of Alaska and is only served by the carrier from its hub in Anchorage.
Preparing for the next frequent flyer program
The promotion comes as Alaska Airlines finalizes its deal to acquire Hawaiian Airlines
. One of the biggest questions has been how the two airlines will integrate their respective frequent flyer programs. It has since been confirmed that a single unified program will be launched, with more details to come in 2025.
The ability to transfer miles between programs at a 1:1 ratio will begin in the coming weeks. Earning opportunities are also on the way, as the airline confirmed Mileage Plan members will be able to collect HawaiianMiles when flying on Alaska Airlines (and vice versa) sometime “later this year.”
The systems are also being updated to allow members to book flights on Hawaiian using Mileage Plan miles and combine Hawaiian flights with those operated by Alaska or partner airlines when redeeming their miles. A rollout is planned for early next year.

In the meantime, Alaska Airlines is using its frequent flyer program as collateral to finance $1.5 billion of senior debt to fund a reserve account, redeem debt assumed in the Hawaiian merger, support its liquidity position, and for general corporate purposes.
