A few days ago, Delta Air Lines
announced its largest-ever summer transatlantic schedule. Next year, the airline will have more than 700 weekly flights to 33 European destinations. This includes seven new routes and increased service on five routes.

In Italy alone, Delta is increasing its service by 10% year over year. This includes the first-ever nonstop flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Catania, Sicily.

Delta SkyMiles

SkyMiles is Delta’s frequent flier program. Launched in 1981, the program passed 100 million members several years ago. Today, in addition to earning and redeeming miles, members have access to free WiFi on nearly all Delta flights.

New York – Catania

Starting on May 22, Delta will launch its daily flights from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to

Vincenzo Bellini Catania Airport (CTA) in Sicily. The route will be operated on the Boeing 767-300ER with 216 seats in a three-cabin configuration. The 767-300ER has 18 first class seats, 26 business class seats, and 172 economy seats.

Delta will become the first US airline to offer nonstop service to Catania, providing easy access to Mount Etna, the world’s most active stratovolcano.

A roundtrip departing New York on the inaugural flight and returning to the US one week later is available for 134,000 Miles roundtrip and $56.

Atlanta – Naples

Also in May, Delta is launching four weekly flights from Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (JFK) to Naples International Airport (NAP). This will be the airline’s second Naples route, complementing the JFK-Naples flight, which launched this summer. According to data from Cirium, an aviation analytics firm, Delta will deploy its Airbus A330-200s on the route.

Delta’s A330-200s have 223 seats in a three-cabin configuration. There are 21 seats in first, 34 in business, and 168 in economy. The flights will operate on the following schedule, starting on May 23:

Minneapolis – Rome

Starting in May, Delta will fly four times weekly from Minneapolis to Rome. The airline has a hub at Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) and has five European routes. Cirium shows that Delta flies from MSP to Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin, Reykjavik, and London.

From May 23, MSP will be connected to Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO) in Rome, four times weekly. The airline will deploy its Airbus A330-300s with 282 seats on the 4,902-mile route. The A330-300 has 21 seats in first, 34 in business, and 227 in economy.

A roundtrip with the departure on the inaugural flight and the return a week later starts at 217,000 Miles + $73 roundtrip. To fly nonstop in both directions, the fare is 226,000 Miles + $67 roundtrip.

Boston – Milan

Delta’s summer 2025 expansion is happening from several hubs. In May, the airline is launching four weekly flights from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). According to the airline, the route is filling a crucial gap as Boston’s largest unserved European market and complements existing service from JFK.

Cirium shows that flights will be operated on the 767-300ER starting on May 23. Flights on the 3,810-mile route will operate on the following schedule:

Roundtrip fares with the departure on the inaugural flight and the return one week later start at 150,000 Miles + $60 roundtrip. A nonstop flight on the way back to the US starts at 164,000 Miles + $54.

Boston – Barcelona

Not only is Boston getting nonstop service to Milan, Delta is launching flights to

Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN). The flight will be operated thrice weekly starting on May 22. Delta will deploy the 767-300ER on the three weekly flights, which will operate on the following schedule:

Other routes

Delta is launching other routes to Europe. Starting in May, the airline will introduce four weekly flights from

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) to Dublin Airport in Irelan, complementing service from Atlanta, Boston, JFK, and Minneapolis. From Atlanta, Delta will begin flying thrice weekly to Brussels.

In addition to launching new routes, Delta is increasing service on several European flights. From next summer, the airline will fly 11 times weekly from Atlanta to Athens, up from seven. Also from Atlanta, Delta is adding three weekly flights to Barcelona and Rome.

From Detroit, service to Munich will increase to daily and flights from Atlanta to Zurich will operate daily.
