One Massachusetts boy received a special welcome home at Boston Logan International Airport on Saturday after completing dozens of cross-country flights to complete specialized treatment for his life-threatening food allergies.Evan Frechette, 12, suffered from severe allergies that disrupted his daily life and often caused him to be hospitalized. He was accepted into a specialized treatment program in Los Angeles in 2021, which required him to fly to California every six to eight weeks. The treatments were expensive and were not covered by health insurance, so Frechette’s grandmother came out of retirement to help cover the cost of treatment. She also contacted JetBlue, and the airline said it provided free or discounted flights to the family. For Saturday’s flight home, JetBlue upgraded Frechette’s seat, but that wasn’t his only surprise. A row of Massachusetts State Police troopers greeted his plane on the tarmac, and JetBlue staff were waiting at the gate for Frechette with a celebration and vouchers for a future family vacation.”I’m just so lucky to live a life where I get to do so many amazing things. It just, it is priceless for me,” Frechette said.
