TEMPO.CO, Bandung – Scoot Airlines officially serves flights from Kertajati Airport to Changi Airport Singapore starting Saturday, September 28, 2024. Scoot will serve flights from Kertajati Airport to Singapore twice a week.
Aircraft owned by Scoot Airlines with flight number TN292 departing from Changi Airport Singapore, made its inaugural arrival at Kertajati Airport on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 16:35 WIB (Western Indonesian Time). The arrival of the aircraft with its passengers was welcomed by Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin and several officials in the regions of Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, and Kuningan.
“We welcome the inaugural flight of Scoot Airlines from Singapore. We hope this will be a momentum for the liveliness of this airport,” said Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin, quoted from his statement, Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Bey said that the international flight, which is the newest route at Kertajati Airport, is believed to be a momentum for the increase in flight activities at the airport located in Majalengka.
Scoot Airlines, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, currently only serves flights from Kertajati to Singapore twice a week. However, Bey is optimistic that the flight schedule will increase.
“It’s currently only twice a week, but we hope that there will be an increase so that every day there are flights,” said Bey.
Bey is optimistic that the opening of the flight service will increase tourist visits to West Java. He has asked the Tourism and Culture Agency to more actively promote tourism in West Java to Singapore.
“Hopefully, visits to tourist destinations in West Java will also increase, as we have many beautiful tourist spots. I have asked the West Java Province Department of Tourism and Culture (Disparbud) to continue promoting West Java tourism to Singapore,” he said.
He mentioned that football club Persib Bandung, which will play an away match against a Singaporean team in the AFC Champions League 2, will be asked to use the newly opened flight service today to help promote the opening of the Kertajati-Singapore flight route.
“Later, Persib will also play in Singapore, hopefully they will depart from here and bring their supporters,” he said.
He hopes that the presence of Scoot Airlines in Kertajati will encourage other airlines to open flight services at Kertajati Airport. “Even Scoot wants to come here, hopefully the presence of Scoot will attract other airlines,” he said.
