PT BlueBird Nordic (BBN) Airlines Indonesia has made its debut as the country’s newest medium-service carrier.
The airline, which obtained its air operator certificate (AOC) in March, commenced operations on Friday with its first flight on the Jakarta-Surabaya route, which it serves with seven flights a week in either direction.
It will also ply the Jakarta-Balikpapan route beginning on Sept. 30 and the Jakarta-Denpasar route on Oct. 2 with the same frequency.
Established in Jakarta in 2022, BBN Airlines Indonesia is the local subsidiary of Dublin-based Avia Solutions Group. The aviation services provider is known for aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) leasing, air charter operations and air freight services, in addition to offering regular scheduled flights, according to its website.
With its operational hub at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, the country’s main gateway airport serving Jakarta, the new passenger airline is part of BBN Cargo Airlines, which has been operating in Indonesia since 1999.
