It goes without saying that
New York JFK to LAX is one of the most popular routes in the United States
. Naturally, Delta Air Lines
operates many flights on the route. In October, Delta Air Lines is scheduled to service the 2,475-mile route with mid-sized widebody aircraft. The aircraft on the route are Boeing 757-200, Boeing 767-300, and Boeing 767-400 (plus a single flight with an Airbus A330-900neo). According to data from Cirium, an aviation analytics company, these are the Delta nonstop flights from New York JFK Airport
to LAX
scheduled for the month of October.
Boeing 757 flights
Boeing 757-200
The Boeing 757-200
is scheduled to fly more or less daily, with 33 flights offering a total of 5,544 seats for the month. Boeing 757s fly from LAX to JFK every weekday. On Saturdays, there are no scheduled Boeing 757-200 flights, but there are two scheduled flights on Sundays. Delta is the largest operator of the Boeing 757 in the world and the largest passenger airline operator of the type by a considerable margin.

The single A330-900neo
The Airbus A330-900
has a single scheduled flight offering 281 seats. It is unclear why Delta is only operating one flight with the A330. In September, a
Delta A300-900neo had to return to JFK after the fumes were smelled in the cabin
(it was a transatlantic flight bound for London Heathrow). A330-900neos is one of the newest types in Delta’s fleet at only an average of 2.7 years old.
Boeing 767 flights
Boeing 767-400
The Boeing 767-400 aircraft is scheduled for 38 flights on the route with a total of 9,044 seats. Cirium shows 767-400s fly from LAX to JKF once every day except for Sundays when there are no 767-400 flights for six flights a week (its unclear how six flights weekly add up to 38 flights for the month – perhaps some weeks have more -400 flights). Delta has 20 Boeing 767-400s in service (plus another one parked).

Boeing 767-300
However, the bulk of the seats will be on Delta’s Boeing 767-300
airliner, which has 243 flights and 51,823 seats in total for the month. On a weekly basis, there are a total of 58 scheduled flights ranging from 6 to 9 per day with a total of 12,338 seats for the week. Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays are scheduled to have nine flights in the day, Tuesdays and Wednesdays eight flights, and Saturdays six flights.

Delta has 40 Boeing 767-300 workhorses in active service (plus another one parked). According to information gathered by Planespotters.net, Boeing 767-300s are among the oldest types in the Delta fleet, averaging 28.3 years old. That is well above the average Delta fleet age of 15.3 years and only just behind the oldest type—the Airbus A320-200, at 28.8 years.
