The aviation market is always hungry for advanced jets that offer extra comfort. Textron Aviation grabbed this opportunity to build a spacious aircraft ahead of the technology curve. The Cessna Citation Longitude was built to increase passenger comfort. It has one of its class’s most comfortable cabins and modern designs. The cabin is well-designed because it has options for customizing the interiors to enhance its passengers’ flying experience. This jet’s cabin is calm, as it’s also one of the quietest.

When you think of advanced business jets, avionics must come to mind. Textron Aviation took Longitude a notch higher with its navigation systems. With all these features, the Cessna Citation Longitude is easier to operate and maintain, making it distinguishable in its class.

Customizable comfort

Textron Aviation first announced the Longitude in 2012 and certified it in 2019. It has a cabin that provides passenger comfort through 11% extra legroom. The standard cabin measures 18 feet long by 6.25 feet wide, 10 inches wider than most competitors, allowing for true six-place seating across. The 76-inch standing room is perfect for changing, stretching, or working during flights. For some passengers, silence is golden. Cessna recognized that and designed this jet with noise-reducing technologies to offer a quiet atmosphere. This makes the Longitude the quietest cabin in its class. With sound levels averaging 67 decibels, it silently outperforms competitors.

More importantly, the aircraft offers customization options to tailor interior furnishings, materials, and layouts to customers’ preferences and onboard needs. Customers can also control the cabin using an app. As they stream movies, they can change the lighting, control the temperature, and change window blinds, all at the touch of a button. Flying on the Longitude doesn’t put passengers in ‘flight mode’ (entirely).

Again, the jet’s baggage compartment is easily accessible through the lavatory. This means passengers can just get up and get their luggage to retrieve anything without disturbing others. That’s not all. From premium leather seats to tailored cabinetry and flooring, no other Citation jet gives owners this freedom to create their desired luxury flying environment.

Global range

Another one of Longitude’s selling points is its range abilities. With its takeoff weight and range, it’s one of the few jets in its class capable of making non-stop flights across the Atlantic Ocean.

Its range even opens up direct flights between destinations like New York to Mumbai, Dubai to Auckland and London to Singapore – something that has previously required refueling stops. This kind of global capability is unprecedented in a large-cabin jet and means travelers enjoy flying nonstop to more destinations than ever.

Longitude’s avionics

The Longitude was made with passengers and pilots’ comfort in consideration. Its navigation systems make flying easy for pilots. With these jet’s sensors and cameras, pilots can land without distractions, regardless of the weather. Synthetic vision systems combine GPS with the aircraft’s terrain database to “see through” clouds and fog on the displays.

Operating costs

With estimated fuel burn up to 25% lower than rivals, the Longitude saves money on every flight relative to its range, partly due to aerodynamics and Pratt & Whitney Canada engines. Longitude gives its owners long maintenance intervals. The LinxUs diagnostics system monitors and alerts maintenance teams to issues before they escalate into problems requiring unplanned downtime.

Low maintenance and operating costs make the Longitude attractive to own. Textron Aviation and NetJets signed a historic agreement in 2023, under which NetJets would acquire up to 1,500 Cessna Citation business jets from Textron Aviation for an additional 15 years. This agreement would expand an existing contract between the two companies to include the Longitude beginning in 2025.

According to Ron Draper, president and CEO of Textron Aviation,“We’re honored to be the largest provider of industry-leading aircraft to NetJets and look forward to continuing to work together to design and deliver the best aviation experience based on customer feedback.”

The Longitude: A true Citation experience

While pushing the boundaries technologically, the Longitude stays true to uncompromised performance, reliability, longevity and pilot/passenger-friendly operation. Its technology sets the bar for business jet technologies and capabilities.

In the Longitude, Cessna has built a business jet that revolutionizes technology, efficiency, and capability for business travelers worldwide. As the most capable large-cabin Citation, the Longitude redefines business jet travel. Its innovations make it a unique milestone among midsize business aircraft. It represents a balance between technology, performance, comfort, and efficiency.
