A woman who took a flight on Alaska Airlines last month was sat next to a nightmare passenger – who kicked off the journey by opening a can of tuna.

A TikToker named Ally, who was in the window seat on the Seattle-bound flight, filmed the man next to her with the fishy can as he appeared to be opening a sleeve of Ritz crackers.

‘Canned tuna on the plane gotta be up there in terms of crimes against humanity,’ she captioned the seven-second video, which has gotten over 1.3 million views on TikTok.

In a follow-up video, she explained that the passenger only stepped up his grossness throughout the flight.

‘It wasn’t just the tuna,’ she said. ‘This guy was literally in the textbook for someone you do not want to sit next to on a plane.’

Ally said she was traveling from Anchorage, Alaska, to Seattle, Washington, and for a short while, the flight was shaping up to be a good one.

That was because the middle seat between her and the lady sitting in the aisle seat was empty initially.

Her dreams of having extra room in coach were dashed when the man armed with tuna showed up.

Ally reported immediately being hit with ‘a wall of smell’ when he went to go sit down.

She said she gave him the benefit of the doubt until he broke out the tuna ‘not 10 minutes into the flight taking off.’

‘So he’s got the can of tuna and he also has a roll of Ritz crackers and he’s making himself little f***ed up tuna hors d’oeuvres,’ she recalled.

In a follow-up TikTok video, Ally went on to explain how much worse the flight got because of the man sitting next to her

The original video where she put the anonymous passenger on blast received thousands upon thousands of shocked comments.

‘This should be a CRIME,’ one of the top comments read.

‘No fly list, immediately,’ another person wrote.

‘I love tuna but you’d catch me on a no fly list for trying to open the window,’ a third wrote.

Matters only got worse for Ally as the flight progressed, she explained in her subsequent video.

She eventually caught a break from the stench emanating from her neighbor’s snack because she fell asleep for a while.

Her nostrils were immediately assaulted with ‘a new smell’ when she woke up though.

She figured out that she missed the drink cart, and that’s when she noticed that ‘tuna man,’ as she called him, ordered a Bloody Mary. The tomato juice-based cocktail mixed with the already foul-smelling aroma from his canned fish.

The next faux pas came soon after, when he began feverishly scratching at a bloody scab as Ally watched in horror.

When he finally fell asleep, Ally was convinced she had gotten a ‘reprieve from this nightmare.’

Once again, she was dealt a cruel twist when he began loudly snoring.

Commenters universally sympathized with her, with one saying, ‘It really kept getting worse. I’m so sorry.’

All airlines based in America allow most foods on the plane regardless of its odor – with the exception of liquid based foods above the 3.4 ounce limit imposed by the TSA.

Durian fruit is the only food some airlines and airports in southeast Asia have banned specifically for how it smells.

Some have likened it to a mix of honey, sewage, turpentine and rotting onion.

Late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain once called the durian ‘indescribable, something you will either love or despise … Your breath will smell as if you’d been French-kissing your dead grandmother.’

It’s so bad that an Indonesian passenger plane in 2018 had to be delayed over the smell of a durian fruit someone brought on board.

A survey published last year by travel website Kayak revealed that 92 percent of people agreed that you shouldn’t bring strong-smelling foods on a plane.

And 89 percent of those surveyed said ‘tinned fish’ is one of the biggest offenders.
