United Airlines is jetting into its second year as the official airline partner of Ballet International Gala (BIG) Live.

The world-renowned classical ballet tour, featuring The Nutcracker, will pirouette its way through Australia and New Zealand in a string of performances that span from Perth to Port Macquarie (yes, Port Macquarie, you read that right) between October and December 2024.

But here’s the kicker—United isn’t just flying The Nutcracker and his merry crew across the continent, they’re also having some tarmac fun while they’re at it! In what might be the most fabulous airport moment ever, the Nutcracker himself, along with his royal companion, the Snow Queen, were caught twirling beside a United Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner at Brisbane International Airport.

In a new video released by BIG Live, The Nutcracker rushes through the airport only to be greeted by the Snow Queen in United Polaris business class. Talk about luxury travel – who knew nutcrackers could fly first class?

Tim Wallis, United Airlines’ Regional Manager for Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti has been doing his own happy dance about this partnership. “We take great pride in continuing to champion and support them across both countries,” he said.

BIG Live directors Joel Burke and Khalid Tarabay are equally enthusiastic. “Thanks to the support of United, BIG Live has underlined Australasia’s reputation as a global destination for international ballet and the world’s best ballet artists,” Burke said.

“We look forward to growing with United in the future, and to the next chapter of our journey, which will see BIG Live spread its wings overseas,” added Tarabay.

The magic of the Christmas season will culminate with the inaugural BIG Christmas Spectacular, presented by United Airlines, premiering at the iconic Sydney Opera House to commence the December festivities calendar.
