If you plan to travel and your flight gets canceled, you no longer need to worry about potentially losing your money.
U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced that airlines are now required to issue automatic refunds without passengers even having to ask.
The automatic refund also applies to “significantly changed” flights and for delayed luggage arrival.

Passengers can file a report and get a refund if their bag is delivered 12 hours or longer after their domestic flight arrives.
And if it’s an international flight, 15 or 30 hours after they arrive, depending on the length of the flight.
Buttigieg says you’re also entitled to a refund if you pay for Wi-Fi, seat selection or inflight entrainment, and your airline does not provide it.
