Thai Airways and Turkish Airlines have selected SES Open Orbits, a cutting-edge inflight connectivity (IFC) network by SES, to enhance passenger internet access across their fleets.

Delivered in partnership with Neo Space Group (NSG), a Saudi Arabia-based satellite services leader, the SES Open Orbits network will offer connectivity at speeds up to 300 Mbps for seamless browsing and streaming.

A number of airlines, including United and Qatar, have signed on with Elon Musk’s Starlink internet platform which offers speeds of around 220 Mbps.

Thai Airways will be the first carrier in Southeast Asia to introduce free Wi-Fi for business class and Orchid Plus guests on its A321NX and B777 aircraft. Turkish Airlines, meanwhile, will bring this high-speed service to passengers on its new A350 fleet.

SES Open Orbits is an advanced Ka-band platform (part of the electromagnetic spectrum used primarily for high-speed satellite communications) that intelligently routes traffic across multiple satellite constellations, offering uninterrupted connectivity.
