Singapore’s Changi Airport (SIN) is transformed into a Sanrio-themed carnival as the world’s most famous cat, Hello Kitty, turns 50.
From November 1, 2024 until February 16, 2024, major sections of the airport become an immersive playground for travelers and guests to experience the ‘kawaii’ world of Sanrio characters.

Hello Kitty Festive Wonderland
The airport’s Terminal 3 (T3) Departure Hall has been transformed into Hello Kitty Festive Wonderland, featuring a colossal eight-meter-tall Hello Kitty topiary, surrounded by her beloved friends and sidekick characters such as My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, and Pompompurin.
Passengers also have the opportunity to go down a seven-meter long rainbow slide in the terminal.
Exclusive meet-and-greet sessions are also available during weekends, allowing passengers the chance to get up close and snap photos with their favorite Sanrio characters.
Sanrio characters across the airport
Guests and passengers of Changi Airport will also be able to go on a Sanrio character hunt as various Hello Kitty characters are spread across Terminals 1 to 4. There are 15 locations in total featuring different Sanrio characters in varying themes, from Hello Kitty in a rickshaw to a playfully spinning Pompompurin.
Hello Kitty and friends carnival
Changi Airport’s Arrival Hall at Terminal 3 is now a Hello Kitty and friends carnival world that features nine zones, each representing a Sanrio character: Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, Pompompurin, Pochacco, Hangyodon, and more.
Each zone features larger-than-life figurines of the characters, fun rides, photo booths, craft workshops and games.
Changi Airport’s first water park
Just next to the festive carnival, the airport’s Terminal 3 Coach Bay is now home to the airport’s first water park.
Cosmic HydroPark features obstacle courses with swings, trampolines, balance beams and a giant slide for passengers who have time to get wet before (or after) their flights.
If that is not enough, visitors can also gear up for a splash battle with water guns, or hitch a ride on floating rocking boats.
Pop-up stores for exclusive collectibles
Sanrio pop-up stores can also be found throughout the Departure Halls in Terminals 2, 3 and 4. The stores have merchandise that are exclusive to Changi Airport such as travel luggage, pillows, and other collectible items.
“Sanrio’s iconic characters, such as Hello Kitty, have transcended generations, endearing themselves to both the young and the young-at-heart,” Ang Siew Min, Senior Vice President, Airport Operations Services at Changi Airport Group said in a statement.
“We are delighted to bring these beloved figures to life at Changi Airport, offering a nostalgic journey for long-time fans and an exciting introduction for newcomers. This vibrant celebration reinforces our commitment in creating immersive and memorable experiences for all visitors to Changi Airport,” Ang added.
