Bradley International Airport (BDL) has officially welcomed Avelo Airlines as the carrier launches its newest operational base. Marking a significant milestone, Avelo begins with four new domestic routes, with three additional routes set to launch next week.

Avelo Airlines, founded in 2021, is rapidly growing as America’s latest ultra-low-cost carrier, providing convenient and affordable flights to underserved markets. Known for its point-to-point route model, Avelo focuses on direct flights to avoid the need for major connecting hubs, giving travelers more direct options to reach their destinations.

The new Bradley base represents Avelo’s second Connecticut base, complementing its existing operations in New Haven. Two Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft have been stationed at Bradley as Avelo deepens its commitment to accessible air travel across the state. The 737 fleet is recognized for its reliability and fuel efficiency, aligning with Avelo’s mission to provide high-quality service at low fares.

Today’s inaugural flights from Bradley include connections to Charlotte/Concord (USA) and Wilmington (ILM) in North Carolina, as well as Daytona Beach (DAB) and Orlando/Lakeland (LAL) in Florida, with each route operating twice weekly.

In keeping with Avelo’s low-cost model, fares include all government taxes and fees, allowing travelers to customize their experience with optional add-ons for an additional fee. Next week, Avelo’s expansion continues with flights to Houston, Texas (HOU), and two international destinations: Cancun, Mexico (CUN) and Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ).

These international routes represent a significant step forward in Avelo’s strategy, marking its transition from a domestic-only airline to an international operator.
