Despite the somber mood surrounding fans and the program following LSU’s lopsided loss to Alabama last weekend, there was some good news for the Tigers.
Three-star wide receiver Kenny Darby from Airline High School committed to LSU after his visit. The 6-0, 175-pound athlete is currently ranked as the 50th-best wide receiver in the country for the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Darby originally committed to Mississippi State on June 7, but decommitted on November 3. LSU extended an offer to him on November 9. He also considered offers from Miami, Tennessee, Florida State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tulsa, Tulane, USF, Texas A&M, Louisiana Tech, Missouri, Houston, and Arkansas State.
Darby cited his desire to be a part of LSU’s wide receiver tradition (WRU), and he was impressed with the Tigers’ facilities, coaching staff, and passionate fanbase.
Classified as a playmaker, Darby is known for catching the ball in stride, creating separation in his routes, and displaying excellent ball skills. He also has the ability to adjust his body to make difficult catches and shows outstanding open-field running ability.
This past season, Darby led the entire state of Louisiana, across all classifications, in receiving with 80 catches for 1,489 yards and 22 touchdowns, averaging 18.6 yards per reception. He is LSU’s fifth commitment for the 2026 class.
