Avia Solutions Group subsidiary BBN Airlines Indonesia has added a 737-400 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) aircraft to further expand its air cargo operations growth within the Asia-Pacific market. 

The ACMI, charter flights and airfreight services specialist said the aircraft joins two 737-800BCFs and three passenger 737-800s in the airline’s fleet.

Martynas Grigas, chairman of BBN Airlines Indonesia, said: “BBN Airlines Indonesia has plans to expand its fleet and strengthen its position to support the growing regional market. This addition of a Boeing 737-400 freighter will enable us to support domestic and international logistics needs.”

He added: “The 737-400SF is a trusted platform for operators in the region; this means we will have synergy in our operations by adding this dependable and well-respected type. With the new aircraft, BBN Airlines Indonesia is now better equipped to offer fast, reliable, and wide-ranging cargo delivery services as we respond to increasing demand from various industries in Indonesia.”

The 737-400BCF (MSN 26302) was converted by Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI) in 2017. The aircraft has a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 65,090 kg and can carry 11 pallets. It features space for 10 ULD 88”x125”x82” containers with an additional 1 53”x88”x64” container for a total cargo volume capacity of 129 m³.

According to data provided by Planespotters, the 737-400BCF is 30 years old and was delivered in October. The two 737-800BCF were delivered in 2023 and are 22 and 20 year old.

BBN Airlines Indonesia received its Airline Operator Certificate (AOC) in August 2023.

According to air cargo market data provider WorldACD, cargo rates in the Asia-Pacific region have traditionally been higher than in the rest of the world. The most recent report indicated a 2% increase in rates for this marketplace.
