Dulles International Airport’s record-setting passenger growth is outpacing its current terminal gate capacity. The airport’s existing gates are fully utilized several times per day, and passengers fill the waiting areas and concession locations.

The new Concourse E, part of Dulles Next, will give passengers direct access from the airport’s AeroTrain system while providing an enhanced customer experience and increasing the airport’s capacity for domestic and international flights. The facility can be expanded through future projects with minimal impact on airport operations.

Washington Dulles International Airport’s record-setting passenger growth is outpacing its current terminal gate capacity, especially for hub airline United Airlines. The airport’s existing gates are fully utilized several times per day, and passengers fill the waiting areas and concession locations. United’s A, C and D-gate waiting areas need more room for connecting passengers. Additional stores and restaurants are needed to service passengers, especially at peak arrival and departure times.

The new Concourse E will give passengers direct access from the airport’s AeroTrain system while providing an enhanced customer experience and increasing the airports capacity for domestic and international flights. The facility can be expanded through future projects with minimal impact on airport operations.

A Better Passenger Experience

    with sustainability and environmental performance as key priorities. Features will include LED lighting, high-efficiency climate control systems and support for electric vehicles to service aircraft and carry passengers. Additionally, the increased use of the electric AeroTrain to move passengers will reduce reliance on older transportation modes.

in a way that supports continued growth, while providing top-quality services for the traveling public and enabling the airport to generate jobs and economic development

in the region.

Concourse E is part of Dulles Next –
a multi-year construction program that includes $7 billion worth of airport infrastructure upgrades that will transform passenger comfort, convenience and service.
