The airline provided a free chartered flight to kids and their families to take the trip of a lifetime to the Most Magical Place on Earth.
DALLAS — Southwest Airlines partnered with a local nonprofit to take kids and their families on a special trip to Disney World.
On Thursday, more than 30 children with the nonprofit Kidd’s Kids and their families departed Dallas for Orlando for a special trip. Southwest donated a charter plane to give the families free airfare to Florida, and the crew onboard volunteered their time for the special cause.
Kidd’s Kids is a DFW-based nonprofit with a driving goal “to provide hope and happiness by creating beautiful memories for families of children with life-altering or life-threatening conditions.” Every year, the nonprofit sends several kids and their families to Disney World, covering all expenses, including hotel, park passes, meals, transportation, spending money and souvenirs, making this trip completely free for the families.
“Southwest is grateful for our partnership with Kidd’s Kids to support the amazing work they do to create special memories for children and families who are facing life-altering conditions,” said Brandy King, Managing Director of Communications at Southwest Airlines. “We’re honored to play a small role as Kidd’s Kids and their families create memories that they will fondly remember.”
This is the 18th year of the partnership between Southwest and Kidd’s Kids. Since its inception, the two entities have worked together to serve more than 800 families. Before taking off, this year’s group of kids were treated to a red carpet-experience.
