Finnish airline Finnair Plc cancels 300 flights on December 9 and 13 due to a strike by The Finnish Air Line Pilots’ Association (SLL). This will be discussed in a Finnair press release.

The strike will affect the flights of 33 thousand airline customers.

The Finnair trade union is holding a strike due to the lack of positive results in negotiations with management regarding the expiration of the collective labor agreement between the union and the airline on September 30.

Since December 2023, strikes in Finland have been held in various industries against government reforms on pensions, sick leave and unemployment payments, insurance premiums, simplification of layoffs, shortening the duration of strikes, etc.

The cumulative damage to the Finnish economy from strikes against government reforms amounted to about 2 billion euros, but did not lead to a policy review.

Finnair is Finland’s largest state—owned airline. The headquarters is located at Vantaa Airport in Helsinki (Finland). The company is a member of the Oneworld alliance.
