The Belgian air carrier has announced that it will operate to Funchal, from April, on weekly direct flights from Brussels, while adding extra frequencies to Faro and Porto.

From April until the end of October 2025, Brussels Airlines will operate 11 long-haul aircraft (Airbus A330) and 35 short- and medium-haul aircraft (Airbus A319/320). In addition to its own fleet, four Air Baltic Airbus A220s will be in service with the Belgian air carrier during the summer, which will bring Brussels Airlines’ overall capacity to 50 aircraft, serving 91 destinations. For reference, in the summer of 2024, the airline operated 44 planes.

On the short and medium-haul network, Brussels Airlines will offer flights to more than 71 destinations and offer 18% more capacity compared to summer 2024.

In preparation for the summer, Brussels Airlines is also making extra hires. The Belgian carrier plans to hire more than 370 people, including cabin crew, pilots, ground, maintenance and engineering staff and for its headquarters.
